I haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday post in approximately 297250235 years. But behold, here I am doing a Top Ten Tuesday prompt AND it’s one that allows me to properly flail and swoon over the loves of my life! I mean if you tell me you haven’t fallen in love with a character while you were reading a book, you are LYING TO ME AND YOURSELF! I have trouble NOT falling in love with characters. Forgive me for falling in love too fast with the beautiful boys in my books #sorrynotsorry.
*Ahem* I digress, but the point of the matter is, I’m linking back to The Broke and the Bookish today to talk about my favourite book boyfriends! Prepare to fall in ~lurve~ my friends. Let the flailing begin!
The Loves of My Bookish Life
Kell Maresh from the Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab
My precious, grumpy, magical coat-wearing cinnamon roll! I am ALL of the heart eye emojis when it comes to Kell ever since I read the Shades series back in February/March. I mean, just look at that face and that soulful, brooding stare! *swoons* Also, his relationship with his brother Rhy is so adorable and don’t even get me started on his cute and unique relationship with the sassy Lila Bard. I am HERE FOR IT 🙌🏽
Matthias Helvar from the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
Ladies and gents I present to you another handsome, brooding lad that I am head over heels for. I mean, I must have a thing for characters that are super grumpy on the outside but secretly squishy on the inside. Matthias Helvar is just the GRUMPIEST around but he’s still all of the precious. And he’s in love with a sassy gal named Nina who loves waffles as much as I do. Which means Nina = me and therefore Matthias is in love with me.*do not question my twisted bookworm logic*
Calis Schrader from Reason Number One by Brixton Brooks
Because the universe is cruel, i.e. not enough people have read this MARVELLOUS book, I don’t have any fanart to show you to represent the wonder that is Calis Schrader. He is sweet, charismatic, funny and basically just PERFECTION rolled up into a beautiful boy. He’s a bisexual work of boy art and I am just IN LOVE. The way he brings Taylor out of his shell and shows him what real love is like just wonderful and feels-inducing it is ridiculous *cries all the happy tears*
Cricket Bell from Lola and the Boy Next Door
Aww look at that gangly little bean! Cricket Bell is just too cute for words! He’s absolutely adorable and super sweet and pretty much one of the best boyfriends around! He is what made me love Lola and the Boy Next Door after HATING Anna and the French Kiss (and that is truly saying something because I really, truly despise Anna).
Peter Kavinsky from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
Ahh sweet Peter K. Not my normal type, but I do love this guy oh so very much. He’s by no means perfect, but what makes him so great is that he owns up to his flaws and wants to be accepted for the way he is. He and Lara Jean are just so dang cute and I will get to see those two come to life in the TATBILB movie and MY BODY IS READY. I cannot wait to see their love unfold on the big screen 😍
Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter series
Okay put those pitchforks down RIGHT NOW! I know Draco is an unconventional choice. He is basically nothing like any of the wonderful boys I’ve included on this. Why include him, you ask? BECAUSE I LOVE HIM OKAY. I have read A LOT of Dramione fanfiction in my day (I mean, I wrote a whole post about my favourite ones) so my feelings may have stemmed from the non-canon representation of him in fanfics. Nevertheless, this tortured, misunderstood boy will forever have a special place in my heart!
Levi from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Levi is the easy, breezy boyfriend that will support you in whatever you do and cause you no stress, other than make you freak out because you LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I know I’ve said this about most of my loves, but he is a precious cinnamon and I DARE you to say otherwise about him!
Jon Snow from the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin
Oh, Jon Snow. That face. That soulful stare. Those beautiful eyes. The undying devotion to his family and to doing the right thing even when literally EVERYONE around him is being shady af. He is PERFECTION and I can barely type this coherently because I am just plain OVERWHELMED with all the loveeeee.
Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
*sigh* Where to start with the witty wonder that is Augustus Waters? He might be the wittiest teenage boy to ever fictionally exist and his vocabulary was not at all representative of real teenage life but I DON’T CARE. I love him so much that it hurts to think about it. For a multitude of reasons I won’t mention in case someone reading this has been living under a proverbial rock and hasn’t read the book. But just know, everything HURTS when I think of this sweet boy!
I hope you all enjoyed my list! I know I was one boy shy of making this a true top ten list, but like what are rules even? Do we share any book boyfriends? Tell me your thoughts my wonderful readers!
Until next time,
